MISSION STATEMENT

The European College for Somatic Psychotherapy is meant to create opportunities for
psychotherapeutic professionals to inform themselves thoroughly and in a short time
about the use of the body in psychotherapy. Since the work with the body brings about
particular challenges for the therapists' personhood, we will pay attention to providing
experiential learning when introducing the body psychotherapeutic methodology.
Content of the courses will allow room for a variety of different approaches of the body
psychotherapeutic field. The faculty mirrors the wide spectrum of diverse traditions
and methods. Naturally, each teacher is most at home in her or his particular way of
working and will fashion her/his course accordingly. But we are trying to shape them in
a way that a more comprehensive perspective on body psychotherapy can emerge and
that we answer to a very general interest in the field.

We will also introduce those methodological approaches that can directly be integrated
into the work in private practice or institutions. With the course of time participants in our
seminars will have the opportunity to get to know different teachers and their way of working
so that a choice for a more in-depth training somewhere else may become possible.
